Video Services - What you get
We take your precious memories on outdated video formats and preserve them onto DVD or
file formats to save them for the next generation. This is a local service, drop off and
collection only, serving Poole, Bournemouth and surrounding areas in Dorset.
BASIC TRANSFER
VIDEO TO DVD
You drop off your videos and I will copy them
onto one or more DVDs. I use only high quality
printable DVDs with the title printed on the DVD.
I can supply single, double or a six DVD case.
The DVD will have chapter skip points on it.
EDITED VIDEO
You drop off video on tape, disc, SD card or
memory stick. I will load it on to the computer
while you wait. Once I have loaded the video
onto the computer you are invited to join me to
see what footage you want to remain and what
parts should go.
Alternatively you can leave basic instructions for
me to edit on my own. I can also make a
timecoded version for you to watch at home.
You simply note the time you see on the screen
of the parts you want to keep. This can also be
done in conjunction with sitting with me and can
save a lot of time. I can also add titles,
voiceovers and have a fairly large library of
copyright free music that can be used. The DVD
itself can have customized menus and chapter
points. You can also have file versions of your
film and take JPEG prints.
VHS TAPES WITH MOULD
This can often happen when tapes are
stored in the loft. It shows itself as white
spots or larger patches on the side of the
tape. Many studios wont transfer these as
they wont put them in their machines. First I
have to clean off the mould and then use a
dedicated mould tape player to transfer the
footage. This is a longer process and there is
no guarantee of the picture or sound quality
due to mould damage, however most tapes
I have transferred have little or no
noticeable effects.
TAPE REPAIR
Broken or damaged tapes can be repaired
using specialist fine tape.

VIDEO TO MP4
The video is transferred to computer and then converted to a H264 file. This file is
compatible with PC and Mac. The file is put on to a customer supplied memory stick or hard
drive. As a guide it’s around 6GB per hour of video.
